A multi-stakeholder platform (MSP) for the dairy sector has been formed in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces in Nepal. A multi-stakeholder platform has been formed at the provincial level with the aim of reviewing the activities taking place at the provincial level for the transformation, development and promotion of the dairy sector and providing the suggestions to the government as well as cooperating in the formulation and implementation of plans and programs with budget. A multi-stakeholder platform has been formed in Bagmati Province to be coordinated by the Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and the Director General of the Livestock Research, Development and Training Center in Gandaki Province. 

The forum formed as an informal group (loose forum) will be held every three months to review the activities and achievements in the development and promotion of the dairy sector and discuss the problems and solutions. Ammar Bahadur Kunwar, Chairperson of the Central Dairy Cooperative Association of Nepal (CDCAN), informed that based on the suggestions or recommendations of the platform, it has been decided to cooperate between the government, cooperatives, non-government sector, private and other stakeholders for the creation and implementation of laws, policies, programs and budgets. 

On the occasion of the provincial level coordination meeting organized by the Central Dairy Cooperative Association Limited Nepal under the Milky Way program run with the financial support of the Heifer Project Nepal, a multi-stakeholder platform was formed in both provinces. Honorable Minister of Bagmati Province Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development Mr. Madhusudan Paudel participated as the chief guest in the meeting held in Hetaunda on 19th June 2026. Similarly, Honorable Minister of Gandaki Province Ministry of Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives Bhim Bahadur Karki participated as the chief guest in the meeting and interaction held in Pokhara on 20th June 2026.

In the coordination meeting, the production, quality and consumption of dairy products at the provincial level, the efforts being made to promote the dairy sector through provincial government and the current problems and solutions in the dairy sector were also discussed. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Dairy Sector related ministries under the Provincial Government, subordinate directorates and offices, Cooperative Registrar's Office, Provincial Dairy Development Board, related offices from the department of food technology and quality control, representatives from NDA, DIA. Similarly, the program managers of Heifer Project Nepal, Chairperson and board members of the Central Dairy Cooperative Association of Nepal (CDCAN), coordinators of the ad hoc committee of the Provincial Dairy Cooperative Association, Chairperson of the District Milk Producers Cooperative Unions (DMPCU's) and other stakeholders are participated.
